Greetings from GEN Europe!
 

We started the year in deep connection with the network, with our National Networks meeting, a staff and council gathering, and a meeting of our Launch&Thrive project - all held in the warm and welcoming environment of Torri Superiore ecovillage in Italy, where the sunshine and bright yellow mimosa trees served as symbols of hope for the spring to come.

Spring is also a season of opportunity and activity in ecovillages, and in this newsletter you'll find plenty of ways to get involved:

Thousands of people have found a new home in Ukrainian eco-communities during the war. A moving new documentary follows the Green Road project and tells their stories.

New Living Library book: Nontokozo Sedibe-Sabic 

Our Living Library is a resource for you to tap into wisdom from experts across the ecovillage network. Our latest 'book' is Nontokozo Sedibe-Sabic, well known in our networks for her work on systemic racism and advocacy for indigenous wisdom. Her interview, Healing from Systemic Racism and the Indigenous Knowledge of Ubuntu ï»¿is now available to watch, and Nontokozo, like all our 'books', is available for consultation on the topics covered in the interview.

Get to know IKIGAIA Ecovillage

IKIGAIA ecovillage, an ambitious community project starting up in southern Spain, is offering a range of online and in person events this spring for all those curious to get to know the project better. Join online meetings, an open day, or even a permaculture workshop to meet the pioneer residents and discover how you can get involved.

ESC Volunteering in Sunseed

Sunseed Desert Technology is looking for new funded ESC volunteers for 6 months from May! They are looking for people eager to get involved and be an active part of our off-grid eco-community in the desert of southern Spain. In particular, they are looking for people interested in working in the Sustainable Living, Organic Gardens, Eco-Maintenance or Drylands department.

Digital Detox Youth Exchange

An opportunity for young people to experience community life without digital distractions, this Youth Exchange is open to participants from Greece, Germany, the Netherlands and Portugal. The event takes place from the 5th to the 16th of May in Germany.
