Community-led initiatives call for a stronger EU Green Deal driven by collective action

Members from around our network, as well as allied community-led initiatives, have contributed to a new manifesto launched this month at ECOLISE´s annual main policy event, “Making the European Green Deal Strong and Real: Harnessing the power of community-led initiatives and local governments". The manifesto claims the right of EU citizens to have the choice to live sustainably,

calling on policymakers to swiftly localise an ambitious European Green Deal through tapping into the power of grassroots initiatives like ecovillages, transition towns and many others.

Call for documents around inclusion & community agreements/aspiration
Through revising the current membership policies and recent discussions at the last staff & council in person meeting, we sensed into the need to have a closer look at the values, agreements and aspirations within our network and the ways how we keep ourselves accountable to support and actively create safe and inclusive spaces.

To support the work of a small working group which we will also open up to members in spring next year, we are now reaching out to YOU to share any documents from your communities and networks with us that might inspire and support our work and help them align with our network.

Any contributions are very much appreciated and please send them to me at carolin@gen-europe.org

GEN Europe Project Updates
Project Highlight:
Yes to Sustainability

We want to highlight the results of our past projects, to make sure that you, our members are aware of the amazing tools, outputs, videos and other materials that were created. This time we present to you the project Yes to Sustainability. This project recently finished and has the following outputs that you can look through, use and share. Firstly, you can find more information on the project overall, on the projects website. The Yes to sustainability partnership had its objective to bring together young people in ecovillages and sustainable projects in Europe and do this by organizing Youth Exchanges and Mobility for Youth Workers such as training courses and seminars. The project not only produced a brochure to help young people and youth workers to create their own sustainable Youth Exchanges, but there is also a team of mentors, who can support you from the initial idea, the implementation of your sustainable event to the final report.
